Description Mickey Gee 2009-11-02 16:51:39 UTC
Currently running 7.5.0 r7984 firmware.

Plugged in a Toshiba USB drive into USB plug of Fab4. I went to Settings->Advanced->Squeezebox Server->Stop-Rescan-Restart to start a scan of my music library. Eventually the screen says "Neither Squeezebox Server nor the scanner are running." At this point, I need to guess what happened.

Disk probably does not have enough space to complete the scan, so it fails to create Under Windows, it claims to be FAT32 with 896KB free space and total size of 93.1 GB.

On Touch, the statistics are different

# df sda1
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 97659328 97658656 672 100% /media/sda1

Diagnostics screen also says:

Free:
0MB

So the disk is probably full. As a user, it would be much easier if some sort of persistent error message was displayed on the screen that I could clear by touch the screen.

It would be even better if a warning message was displayed stating that the scan won't start because there wasn't enough space on the hard drive.

The step for this is now included in Tiny SC flow. Completing scan and starting scan are treated as two separate issues.

I need more info on the "failed to start" flow (is this step really needed?) I think this might be a duplicate.

Assigning to Ben. If a separate fail-to-start message is actually needed, please re-assign to me with the known cause and what the user could do to resolve the issue, and I'll provide copy for it.

deferring this to the 14880 bug
