Description dbrotzen 2009-10-30 14:02:29 UTC
This is the first bug I report:

1. I've discovered, the Squeezebox Server has created a compilation album of all albums called "Greatest Hits" regardless of artist. All my comments below only refer to albums called "Greatest Hits."

2. When I choose artist or song from the Squeezebox Server Computer interface, the correct song will play regardless of which Receiver I use. That is, as long as I choose from the artist list, rather than from the album list, the right song/album and artist will play.

3. Both Receivers draw music from the same location on the computer when I choose songs from the SB Server Computer interface.

4. However, when I choose artist or song coming from any album called "Greatest Hits" from the Controller, the WRONG song will play REGARDLESS of which artist or album I choose. That is the songs are drawn from the wrongly created compilation.

5. When I search for albums, or songs from albums called "Greatest Hits", in the albums list, there is only one album called "Greatest hits" in the list. It contains 103 songs from all artists who have an album entitled "Greatest Hits." This situation persists regardless if I choose to play an album called "Greatest Hits" from the Computer interface or from the Controller. So it seems some tags have disappeared as I "upgraded" to v7.4. I've since tried v7.4.1 and it's no better

6. ALL the files are under C:\Music. No subfolders.
Each song has an ordinal number + artist name + song title + record title.

The Squeezebox Server scanner has worked like this for quite some time (beginning with 6.5 or 7.0?) and uses folder structure to help separate albums with the same name. If you don't separate albums into folders, you will get the results you see - albums with the same name get grouped as one, and usually marked as a compilation.

The playing of the wrong track is another issue, almost certainly bug 10449, which is getting more and more attention lately, and needs to be fixed ASAP.
