Description heggink 2009-10-29 15:07:20 UTC
Just upgraded to Ubunto 9.10. After installing 7.4.2 (7.4.1. requires mysql 5.0 which was upgraded to 5.1 in the Ub 9.10 version update) there is no mysql user/tables for squeezecenter + system log shows:

[09-10-29 23:03:48.4188] main::init (320) Starting Squeezebox Server (v7.4.2, r29073, Thu Oct 29 07:14:08 PDT 2009) perl 5.010000
[09-10-29 23:04:18.5394] Slim::Utils::MySQLHelper::createSystemTables (500) FATAL: Couldn't connect to database: [Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/squeezebox-mysql.sock' (2)]
2009-10-29 23:04:18 Squeezebox Server died. Restarting.

WHat to do?

Herman

Not entirely sure I agree: I found that mysqld was not running where squeezeboxserver processes were. I DID manage to clean install on my other amd64 ubuntu box that also runs 9.10. Found a bunch of audit messages in the system log around mysqld requesting masks for squeeze that were being denied. I found a bunch of old squeezecenter files still hanging around (that were not revoved in the 7.4 upgrade) including some apparmor files. Removed all, reinstalled and all of a sudden the thing was running again. Don't ask me what did it eventually but it's running which is a big relief (imagine 1 wife and 2 daughters (9, 12) complaining about the IT manager...).
