Bugzilla – Bug 14974
Server can block if no internet connection
Last modified: 2010-04-08 17:24:08 UTC
Created attachment 6230 [details] Snapshot of log file when drop outs occur. Hi My setup: Squeezebox Server 7.4.0 running on openSUSE 11.1 D-link DIR-655 wireless router Squeezebox Duet openSUSE conncted with cable to the router. Duet connected wirelessly to the router. Router connected to the Internet. Some days ago my connection to the Internet disappeared for some time. During this time it was quite impossible to stream music from the Squeezebox Server to the Duet. It seems that when the Server e.g. tries to scrobble to last.fm, the server stops to respond when I don't have a connection to the Internet. Same happens when the server tries to connect to mysqueezebox.com. The symptom is that there are minutes without any sound during times the server is busy. The symptoms were a little better when disabling the scrobbling to last.fm. This all implies that I can't use the system to stream my own music when I don't have a connection to the Internet. The web interface to the server was also unavailable during these circumstances. I have attached part of a log when this happens. Longest times of drop outs/freezez are when the server tries to connect to SN or mysqueezebox.com. I only use FLAC-files. I have not tried 7.4.1, because of some bug with FLAC in that release. /Anders
This is a dupe of a bug Richard has filed that I can't find right now, the server can block if there is no internet.
Any progress on this, or any other bug with this behaviour? /Anders
Andy - you filed that one yourself :-P *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 14086 ***
re-opening this one and closing bug 14086
From Richard: To reproduce: Stream music from SC -> player Unplug internet, but SC <-> player should still have a connection SC starts blocking
*** Bug 14086 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Anders - could you please update to the latest 7.4.2 and try again? I haven't been able to reproduce this: - started playback of a 48/24 FLAC album - pulled the internet connection - watched the error messages coming At the same time I tried browsing podcasts and internet radio directories, creating more errors, but no hiccup. QA - can you reproduce this issue?
Oh, just realised I tested with 7.5, not 7.4. But I doubt there's a difference in this regard?
Hi I have tested with 7.4.2, and can't reproduce this behaviour. The bug seems to have been fixed now. /Anders
Great news, thanks!
This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release. If you are still seeing this issue, please let us know!
