Bugzilla – Bug 14858
Bringing back Bonjour
Last modified: 2009-10-23 07:58:29 UTC
We had removed Bonjour feature for MAC os on 7.4. Customer is requesting the feature back RN= 091008-001680
We were't using it for anything useful and it was adding bloat, so it was removed.
This feature should not be considered "bloat". Andy - not sure who we is, but the bonjour feature is extremely useful in multi-computer home installations. With the SqueezeCenter running on a central shared Mac, all laptops are able to go easily to the SqueezeCenter webpage and select music. Now of course you could say... you could just go to the shared systems IP address/web page. But why add that complexity. HP printers support bonjour so going to the printers internal web page is extremely easy. Obviously HP thinks that Bonjour support is not bloat! This is a user friendly feature, that should be put back in. I don't use some of the other features that have been added to SqueezeCenter over the years, but just because I don't use them does not mean they should be removed! If you have questions please ask me.
Also this should not be considered resolved.... How does a feature get removed and just resolved with any understanding of its use. Since Andy said "we" did not use it... does that mean customers don't?
