Description mantheyj 2009-10-17 03:12:52 UTC
My box is connected via copper-cable to the Internet.

As far as I understood, the box should check the status to the SqueezeCenter or SqueezeNetwork. If the status is down an "emergency-tone" or melody should be heard instead of the configured alarm-stream....

The problem happens, if I disconnect the cable from the box and wait that the alarm should happen.

In case of alarm, I get an menue with a question to reconnect the Ethernet

Player-Firmware: 7.4.0-r7790

Greetings
Juergen

QA Confirmed with 7.4.1 r7866

steps to reproduce

1) attach radio to local server via wired or wireless
2) setup an alarm, use sounds and effects
3) remove Ethernet cable or disable wireless AP
4) wait for alarm to trigger. Notice that back up sound does not trigger, instead the Alarm Snooze/Off dialog appears. After that the Connection Problem dialog appears.

Ben to try to repro, then talk to James about how common it is and go from there.

if I set the alarm time for <3 min = fail. if I set alarm time for >5 min = works. "setting an alarm for 1 min away, then pulling cord, would result in failure" is how I tested it over the weekend on 7.4.1

Retesting today, setting an alarm for 5 min in the future, then pulling the Ethernet. Wait 5 min and back up alarm goes off as expected.

setting an alarm for 1 min in the future, then pulling the Ethernet. Wait 1 min and the backup alarm does not go off.

Same results for 7.4.0 & 7.4.1

Given James's findings from way back when, this bug is a WONTFIX
