Bugzilla – Bug 14758
Music not mixable if no music folder, but only iTunes import is enabled
Last modified: 2009-10-22 11:23:35 UTC
As described in http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57959, Apple Lossless files are not being picked up by MusicIP plugin as mixable, despite being mixable in MusicIP itself. It appears from http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=469878&postcount=8 that the Squeezebox Server database is recording these files as content_type='m4p' rather than 'm4a'.
m4p is DRM protected data which can't be read by SBS. Could you please update a sample file if you consider it not to be DRMed?
Oh, that forum entry actually says mp4, not m4p - not quite the same
Jonathan - could you please enable scanner debugging and run a scan. Then attach the resulting scanner.log to this bug. This should tell us what SBS is doing with those files.

(In reply to comment #2) > Oh, that forum entry actually says mp4, not m4p - not quite the same Sorry for the typo. Definitely affects non-DRM tracks
Don't you have a music folder defined? It looks like you don't. And you've set MusicIP to only check mixable status. As MIP is scanned before iTunes, the MIP scan will not find any file in the DB at all. Is this correct?
No music folder specified in line with help which says "You can leave this field blank if you are importing your music library information from iTunes or MusicIP." Does look from the scanner log like MusicIP couldn't find any tracks - number of tracks not found roughly tallies with total number of tracks now in database. Nevertheless, all Radiohead tracks are showing in SBS as capable of being MusicIP mixed. I ripped these long ago as MP3s. I'll try adding a music library folder and see if that makes a difference.

So setting a music folder now results in the non-DRM Apple Lossless files being mixable - thanks. Suggest that some help somewhere is updated to make clear that importing mixable status only requires a scan to have taken place first so a music library needs to be specified. Alternatively can the iTunes and MusicIP scans be swapped to avoid a need for a folder scan?
