I have my screensaver timeout set short, 10 seconds.  However, when scrolling the title of a song or podcast, it takes longer than that to scroll, and the timeout happens first, thus going to clock.

I'd suggest that the scroll should keep bumping the screensaver activity timeout for the first scroll through the item.  This will allow the user to read whatever he last navigated to, then the timeout can happen.
