Description Richard van den Berg 2009-10-10 05:50:18 UTC
Using r7790 I have set the time mode to 24h. In the alarm page (alarm listing) the alarms are shown in 12h mode.
Comment 1 Ben Klaas 2009-10-16 14:04:40 UTC
we need to do something about syncing the time format between server and client, but just as an FYI if you change the setting on the server side to 24h as well you will see the alarms in 24h mode on the player.
Comment 2 Richard van den Berg 2009-10-18 23:11:20 UTC
I can confirm that changing the settings on SBS changes the way the alarms are displayed on the SB Radio. Wouldn't simply removing the 12h/24h option from the Radio settings make sense? Perhaps replace it with a note that these settings are to be configured on the server.

Retargeting this for the moment, since there are a ton of alarm-related bugs that I'm going to argue should be included in a 7.4.x release, including this one. Please bear with me...

cc:ing Michael. Michael, interested in your thoughts re: syncing client-side and server-side settings for things like this...would be nice to solve client/server pref sync in a generic way.
Comment 5 Michael Herger 2010-02-03 06:29:00 UTC
Sounds stupid, but with Controller we started to separate server prefs from player prefs on demand from marketing. We were asked to have those settings (first of all: the language) independant from each other.

But I'd vote for bug 15439: we should have reasonable defaults depending on the player's language. Most non-EN countries are using 24h. Why should we default to 12h for all of the others too?

And another vote for player prefs replication to the server (there's another bug for this I can't find).
Comment 6 Richard van den Berg 2010-02-03 06:54:09 UTC
Interesting request from marketing. I prefer English, my daughter prefers Dutch, my wife doesn't case either way. So I see their point for making the language device specific. We all prefer 24h format though. So unless marketing demands to cater for an in-living British or American house guest, the clock format can be centrally managed IMHO.

This bug as originally written appears to be a duplicate of bug 15439. (or really that bug is a duplicate of this one)

Since we have a specific requirement that Michael mentioned to make the clock display per-player, that part of the bug should be considered 'WONTFIX', but anyone running across this should feel free to file a separate bug and stir up votes on the forum if they feel strongly about it!

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 15439 ***

The 'UI' component is being removed. This bug is being shifted to the appropriate new component.
