Description Dan Sully 2005-04-28 13:51:39 UTC
We should be using the Vorbis/FLAC ALBUMARTIST tag for VA albums - and something similar for ID3
Comment 1 John Gorst 2005-05-10 12:48:16 UTC
Is this bug regarding the new feature of showing "album (artist)" in 'browse
albums'. If so thats fine.

If not can we add the problem to this bug.

For example the album greatest hits with various artists is displayed with the
artist of the first track of the album e.g.

Greatits Hits (Radiohead)

Cheers

also applies to bug 1442
Comment 3 Marc Sherman 2005-05-28 08:21:40 UTC
According to [1], Microsoft maps the ID3v2.3 tag TPE2 to AlbumArtist. However,
according to [2], the official ID3v2.3 spec, it is defined as
Band/Orchestra/Accompaniment -- I'm assuming that this is the tag that
Slimserver is already using for the "Include Band/Composer in Artists" feature.
Would it be possible/reasonable for SlimServer to (optionally?) treat the TPE2
tag as AlbumArtist for MP3s? That would make it's behaviour compatible with MSMC.

Doesn't look like this one's going to make 6.1.
Comment 5 Dan Sully 2005-08-02 23:17:11 UTC
I've added this feature as part of the 6.2/trunk tree - subversion change 3849.

Please see the link for details & file any future enhancements as a new bug.

Thanks.
