Description Lars Høyrup Jensen 2009-10-04 07:30:57 UTC
My Windows XP user name is the same as my real name: "Lars Høyrup Jensen". As you can see, there is a Danish letter in between ("ø").

My music library is placed in a folder called "Musik" in my Windows document folder. Thus, the entire path to my music library is "C:\Documents and Settings\Lars Høyrup Jensen\Dokumenter\Musik".

SC 7.4 seems unable to handle Danish characters (and probably many other non-English characters). After installing 7.4 it refuses to scan my music library. It actually tells me I haven't defined a music library. This is not true; I have pointed SC to the abovementioned folder, and it looks fine in the dialogue box when I point where it should search. However, when I look in the server.prefs configuration file, the line defining where my music is says 'audiodir: "C:\\Documents and Settings\\Lars H\xF8yrup Jensen\\Dokumenter\\Musik"'. Clearly something went wrong with the Danish letter.

If I move my entire music library out in the root ("C:\Musik") and thus avoid any Danish characters, everything works just fine.

In SC 7.3.x I was able to fix this by manually editing the server.prefs file where I would type the correct path with Danish character and all. I cannot do this hack in 7.4.

I believe this should work out of the box without any need for manual hacks.

Best regards,
Lars
