Description Mark Lanctot 2009-10-02 14:29:26 UTC
When you delete tracks out of the "Zapped Songs" playlist by deleting them off the drive, the "Zapped Songs" playlist entry remains. This is how previous versions behaved. Previously, you would then go into the "Zapped Songs" playlist and delete the "Zapped Songs" playlist completely.

However with 7.4.0, trying to enter the "Zapped Songs" playlist when one or more tracks have been deleted from it hangs the web UI. "Zapped Songs" remains but can no longer be deleted or even accessed. It has to be manually deleted off the drive using OS commands.

Version: 7.4.0 - r28672 @ Mon Sep 28 17:48:40 PDT 2009
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2

QA to replicate and get logs
Comment 2 Ross Levine 2009-10-07 14:23:30 UTC
I tried these exact steps and I cannot reproduce with Windows, I'll try it in Ubuntu.

The playlist works fine and no issues with webUI after deleting a file on the zapped playlist. How consistently can you reproduce this Mark?
Comment 3 Mark Lanctot 2009-10-08 07:52:01 UTC
This is reproducible for me. In fact, I now can't access a new "Zapped Songs" playlist at all, not even just to view, even if all tracks in it exist on the drive.

I was suspecting maybe it's a browser issue, but I get the same behaviour using every browser I have access to on every architecture:

- Firefox 3.5.3 on win32

- Internet Explorer 6 (SP2) on win32

- Firefox 3.5.3 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 9.04 (i.e. right on the server, not across the LAN)

- Firefox 2.0.0.14 (32-bit) on Ubuntu 9.04

- Firefox 3.5.3 on Mac OSX 10.4

- Safari 3.2.1 on Mac OSX 10.4

I see the server log is complaining about a missing file while I'm trying to access the playlist, though based on the time this was the first attempt only (using FF 3.5.3 on win32). Also the log is mentioning a file that *was* in the Zapped Songs playlist when I first reported this bug. The file is long gone as is the original Zapped Songs playlist that contained that item.

I'll attach the log.

Server log

Based on the time, this was the first attempt to access the Zapped Songs playlist. Subsequent attempts don't create a log entry.

The file mentioned was in the first Zapped Songs playlist, created when I filed the bug. That file is deleted, as is the first Zapped Songs playlist. The current Zapped Songs playlist contains only valid tracks.

Zapped Songs playlist

Here is my current Zapped Songs playlist. There is no mention of the file which is creating the error in the log.

AFAIK, the playlist is sort of stored in the data base, with the file as a backup. I'd recommend a complete rescan to make sure your data base is in good shape.

I run SC 7.4.1 on Debian Lenny.

I run a daemon that processes files in zapped - they get erased, moved or otherwise dealt with. So I often have file listed which no longer exist. I have no problem opening the Zapped playlist even though it names these non-existent file.

I do run a complete rescan every night, which cleans up zapped among other things. By cleans up i mean that files that no longer exist get dropped from the zapped playlist by the rescan.

On further experimentation, i can reproduce this hang.

zap a file.
rm the file.
open zapped playist in the web ui - it opens.
click on the missing file. nothing happens.
now again navigate to playlists. you can no long open zapped.

running rescan playlists only clears the situation.
