Description lornness 2009-09-30 07:20:41 UTC
Platform: Windows Vista 32bit Traditional Chinese

When browse using music folder function (either using the browser or accessing using remote to squeezebox screen), if the folder contains Traditional Chinese name folder, there will be no response to the action (always show loading....) and cannot view the folder contents.

It happened for all beta 7.4 release including the final 7.4 version.

Pls fix the problem so that Chinese people can use it.

(I don't have this problem with all 7.3.x version)

Ben: I am unable to reproduce this issue with the test track I have. What logs can the lornness turn on in SBS that may help diagnose this issue?

Hi,

It is Chinese Folder name (not the Chinese track name), for example, Chinese artist name as folder name.

It just wait there and the browser is loading without any response.

In the old beta version (few month ago), even the browser is not loading, I can still go to squeezebox screen to see the whole folder list. Then you'll notice some of the folder names are nothing but blank. You can then use Windows file browser to check one by one and you know which Chinese names have problem (blank).

The weird problem is you don't know which Chinese name is not working...

However, the final version is different, browser and sq3 screen are both hung there without response.

I don't know if the above helps or not.

I can try to get the folder content that has problem and post it here.

Can you attach a sample that causes this issue?

It's a folder name issue, not a file name.

We need to fix this, it's a regression from earlier versions.

Is this for the web UI only, or Controller, player?

Part of my planned fix/patch for bug 13892 does include a change which was needed to prevent such an issue in the web UI.

This should be fixed with change 28818.

can you do a final check for us? download the patched version of SBS 7.4.1 which will include the latest controller firmware. Install this version then test your case again. let me know if this works or fails.

download from here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.4
