Description Bryan Alton 2009-09-30 01:17:16 UTC
R7790.

When adding a Radio Networks App with the following steps (e.g. using BBC)

- Install BBC
- Don't add Home Menu shortcut
- Return to App Gallery

The menu BBC does not appear in MyApps until Radio is rebooted.
The BBC menu will appear if "Launch BBC" is selected as the final step.

Andy: related to bug 14131?
Comment 2 Andy Grundman 2009-10-01 10:35:04 UTC
My Apps should always be correct, the menu is not cached and always comes from
SN with the latest data. QA to reproduce.
Comment 3 James Richardson 2009-10-01 13:04:45 UTC
I have tried several times, but can not reproduce this error.

Bryan: are you still seeing the issue?
Comment 4 Bryan Alton 2009-10-01 15:28:37 UTC
I'm still seeing a problem although it seems to have changed slightly - now the App which has supposed been installed - no longer shows up even after reboot. This behaves the same on Touch (r7816), SBC (r7816) and Radio.

I came across this problem when I wanted to add multiple Radio Networks apps and none of them with a shortcut to home me - so I did the following

1. Reboot and Check My Apps to check what apps are installed.
2. Select App Gallery - Radio Networks - BBC
3. Then choose "Don't add shortcut to home menu"
4. Then message "BBC has been successfully installed" - then choose "Return to App Gallery"

Radio Networks install will work (i.e. new icon appears in menu) if you either either
(i) Dont add short cut to home menu and Launch App
or
(ii) Add short cut to home menu and "Return to App Gallery"

A further effect Squeezeplay "uninstall" Radio Network App doesn't work.

If say BBC is installed and then I try to install by Selecting App Gallery-RadioNetwork-BBC. I am told that BBC is already installed - select to uninstall. So I select Uninstall and am told "BBC has been successfully installed" and "Return to App gallery". Then from App Gallery I change menu (back) to My Apps - I find BBC is still there. If I repeat the App gallery Radio Network BBC - I am still told BBC is installed.

Tom would this be for you? Bryan's reproduction steps are perfect, this is reproducible 100% on touch and radio.
Comment 6 Wadzinski Tom 2009-11-05 12:50:56 UTC
Confirmed steps in comment #4. SC is returning a out of date list that doesn't contains the BBC entry. Reassigning to Andy, this appears to be a purely SN issue, since the My Apps is served via SN.

Similar results --may be a new bug:

SB touch with FW 7.5.0-r8665
SB Server 7.5.0 -30409
mysqueezebox acc't created

1) On the Touch device, go to App Gallery
2) add ANY app --choose 'add icon to home menu'
3) choose 'return to app gallery' (don't launch the new app)
3) final screen says the app is installed, but its not added to the home menu or may apps (web or device)UNLESS you launch the app at that screen.
4) the device will then allow you to install again (since it does not really seem to install in this instance)

You could install several apps--- but if you keep returning to the app gallery, they wont appear.

Note this DOES work if you don't do that final step of selecting 'Return to App Gallery'. That is, if you select 'launch BBC' OR go back to the home menu.

Andy, any progress on this bug?
