Description James Richardson 2009-09-25 16:37:03 UTC
When I attach a SP device to SBS, which has NO SN credentials. Then turn off SBS, the SP device will get into a bad state.

It will show NowPlaying / MyMusic / Settings only and will NOT offer SN as a fall over.

It should offer SN Setup when it can't find SBS and has NOT been registered.

Baby with no SN registration, Connected to SC 7.4, turn off SC. Device should go through the wizard if the user tries to connect to SN.

Jive with no SN registration, connected to SC 7.3, turn off SC. Device should go through wizard if the user tries to connect to SN.

See if there's enough of an issue to worry about.

I counter-propose the following behavior:

On Squeezebox Radio: after local SC has failed, any menu item goes to a 'Connecting to $sc_name' screen, followed by a message 'Can't connect to Library' screen. Perhaps we could add 'Connect to MySqueezebox.com' to that screen?

This behavior is fine for launch in my opinion, given that the 7.4 server and Radio firmware both aggressively try to get users to register, so they will never encounter this screen.

The SBC on 7.3.3 and 7.4.0 offers SN connectivity, and the upgrade proceeds normally.

I'm changing this to a Radio bug since SBC does offer SN registration. It is not clear to me whether we should "fix" this bug at all.

What Chris suggests or something like it sounds good rather than a direct switch over, since we support the idea of no SN. Instead, as Chris suggested, offer a menu choice of "connect to SN", gives a fairly non-intrusive means to get the device registered.

Also, I don't fully understand the auto-reg possibilities that could come into play here. If the player's connected SC has SN credentials, what happens with an unregistered player?
