Description kentbigdog 2009-09-24 20:10:54 UTC
Using the menu system on the Boom, when you enter the mysqueezebox.com setup to enter your email address, using the back button won't take you back to the main menu. Once you are in the mysqueezebox setup, there doesn't seem to be a way out.

QA to have a look and see what affect this has on trying to connect to a local SC.

Kent, did this cause a specific problem for you?

Once I got in there I wasn't prepared to enter the information but I did want to use the Boom. I ended up unplugging the unit to exit that area.

So you had it set up locally and working, but then went to connect to mysqueezebox.com, and it asked for info, but there was no way to back out?

Sorry for all the questions; I'm just trying to make sure I understand what cases this might happen in. :)

Chris, when I installed the software it updated the firmware. I then went through the Boom menus one by one just to see what was there. The last menu on the Boom was mysonicwall.com (as I remember). When I pressed the > key to go into that menu item, I couldn't use the < key to get back to the main menu. I was trapped in that menu item with no way to get back to the main menu. No problem with the questions. I used to test software for a living! I need to get back into that frame of mind so I provide better answers.

oh Mysqueezebox.com. That's the new name (blame marketing, not me) for Squeezenetwork. I understand it! So, your player connected to MySB, where it had never been registered before, since we created a new database for MySB.

However, when production users switch over, we will have migrated the old database to the new servers, so their existing players won't need to go through the signup process.

So, this shouldn't happen at all to non-beta users, although it might happen to a handful who are setting up a new player and updating (not installing new) their SC at the same time. And of those users, probably some of them will be okay proceeding through the setup wizard.

I think this is enough of an edge-case that I'm not worried about it.

It was a good find, though. Thanks! :)
