Bugzilla – Bug 14230
Pause, play, starts a new track. Intermittent
Last modified: 2010-11-08 08:20:03 UTC
Baby r7679 and r7671 Pandora > Your Stations > plays fine Pause, Play Sometimes it starts a new track instead of unpausing. It seems to work right occasionally, maybe 1 in 4 tries. Then it seems to get 'fixed' after some number of tries - maybe 3, maybe 10. If it works right 4 times in a row it will always work right until you change stations. Did this on PVT2 r7979 and PB2 r7671
How long do you pause for? I know what the issue is here, I think. If you pause a remote stream them, SC will stop streaming once the player decode buffer is full. It will then try to jump to the same position to restart when you unpause. This should work for Pandora so long as you unpause while the stream URL is still valid. This used to be for 24 hours. My guess is that either something has gone wrong with the mechanism or Pandora have changed the timeout. Please can you capture a log at level player.source=info. You will need to note the exact time at which it did not work.
Update hours
Ok, I see why it would fail for Pandora.

*** Bug 14348 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Running SbS 7.4.1 r28715. Track was paused for perhaps 14+ hours on local MP3 48K sample rate track. When restarted, Now Playing displayed a message about "unable to find track" on top line of SB3, and second line displayed full path of track that it couldn't find. SB3 could still play the track and then stopped. Most likely played until buffer was empty. I think it did continue playing the track where it left off from the pause and did not go back to the beginning of track, but not 100% sure. I used remote to navigate My Music->Genres and able to find track and pressed Play on remote. Track started up again OK, display looked normal. Running Windows XP SP2.
Mickey, please open this as a new bug - I doubt that it has anything to do with the other one.
Will open new bug regarding Comment 8. Update on original bug -- still occurs with 7.4.1 r28715 on SB3 with a 48KHz MP3 track. Absolutely reproducible at my house if track paused for 7 hours. Possibly seen if paused for 4 hours, but not sure.
Seen after 2 hours of pausing track. 7.4.1 r28715 on SB3 with a 48KHz MP3 track.
Mickey, can you reproduce this with player.source=info log enabled?
moving current p2 bugs to p3 to make room for moving p1.5 bugs to p2
Administrative move of 7.5 bugs. All P2, P3, P4 being downgraded one level. Will then split P1s.
Mickey, did you open a new bug? The original bug was about Pandora (and other remote streams. You are now talking about local tracks, which is a different matter. If you could get the log that was asked for and attach it to a new bug then that would give me a chance to see what is happening as I cannot reproduce the problem with local tracks.
New bug 15046. Closing this one
This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release. If you are still seeing this issue, please let us know!
These bugs have all been marked resolved and belong to a component which is being removed. Therefore they have been moved to the most applicable of the new components.
Issue now happens consistently with Mediafly again. Started happening recently, and wasn't happening before, says my wife. Using 7.5 r9009 firmware.
Mickey, I think that this could well be a different bug. Please open a new one rather than reopen this one as otherwise it becomes difficult to track the relationship between cause and symptom. Please attach SbS logs at level player.source=info.
