Description Osama Zaidan 2009-09-23 12:36:35 UTC
If I set setup a Duet from a factory reset, and skipped registering with myaqueezebox.com by hitting the left arrow key, then choose the receiver I can connect to Squeeze server and get update and so on.
However, if the Squeezebox server turned off I cannot find any option to allow my controller to connect or register to mysqueezebox.com?

The only option we found was under Setting->Advanced->Networking->Switch to mysqueezebox.com and that is not functioning either.

I do not think a user should to go Setting->Advanced->Networking->Switch to mysqueezebox.com to just register his unit because he skipped that option at the beginning of setting up his Duet. Mysqueezebox.com should be placed in more obvious place such as “Switch Library”

Matt: can you comment on this. Is this an expected user setup behavior or not
Comment 2 Seth Schulte 2009-09-23 15:10:56 UTC
Tom, this sounds like a side-effect of the work you did recently to allow users to bail out of the "normal" setup flow and complete the process by connecting to SC. In that case, I think we correctly suppress the "Return to Setup" menu item (and it sounds like it's working as expected for Osama).

However, as he describes it, if you bail out of setup and do _not_ connect to SC, it sounds like we are still suppressing the "Return to Setup" menu item, even though you aren't really done with setup, right?

The original intended behavior (after we allowed users to opt-out of registration during setup) was to let the user do whatever they wanted until they selected a menu option that required a mysb.com account (without Squeezebox Server, this is pretty much anything that requires a network connection. Even with Squeezebox Server, an account is needed for things like App Gallery, My Apps, etc).

Basically, a screen needs to exist that allows users to log in/set up a mysb.com account, but which is probably slightly different from the setup screen version. (might want a "canel" option, and maybe some added text that says you can switch Squeezebox Server back on instead).

Targeting flow for 7.4.1, this isn't making it in to 7.4...

moving current p2 bugs to p3 to make room for moving p1.5 bugs to p2
Comment 5 Pat Ransil 2009-10-23 05:11:05 UTC
Administrative move of 7.5 bugs. All P2, P3, P4 being downgraded one level. Will then split P1s.
