Description Remco Derksen 2009-09-23 03:40:21 UTC
Boom screens dimms fine when the room is dark, but when I play music the screen will brighten up after a few seconds.

If I use the remote or the buttons for anything (go back to the menu, play another song etc..), it dimms again, and then brightens up again after about 10 seconds after the "Now playing" screen appears.

Boom is connected to SC7.3.3 on Ubuntu.

What hardware version boom is this PB1/2 - MPQ - Retail; please list the PID
Comment 2 Remco Derksen 2009-09-23 10:42:23 UTC
its a MPQ2-270.

It was working fine until a few weeks ago (or maybe until 7.3.3, not sure..).
Comment 3 James Richardson 2009-09-23 12:19:28 UTC
Felix: what is the expected behavior with the ambient light sensor? I have been able to verify the behavior below with a MPQ and Retail unit.

There are three settings for brightness:

- Power on brightness
- Power off brightness
- Idle brightness

My guess is that you have set 'Power on brightness' to 'auto', while 'Idle brightness' it set to a fixed value.

Now if you start playing something or using the IR remote Boom switches into 'Power on brightness' and dims properly. After a while Boom switches to 'Idle brightness' and dependent on the value lights up.

Can you please confirm that all three settings are set to 'auto'?
Comment 5 Remco Derksen 2009-09-23 14:05:43 UTC
I can confirm that idle was not on automatic it was on 5.
it set it to automatic and now it works :)

That said, I havent changed that setting, so the default was auto before (7.3.2?), and is now 5 (7.3.3?).
Comment 6 Remco Derksen 2009-09-23 14:06:43 UTC
..probably a good idea to put it back to auto by default with 7.4 ?
Comment 7 Felix Mueller 2009-09-23 14:59:22 UTC
That is handled in SC / SN. Any ideas, Michael?
Comment 8 Michael Herger 2009-09-28 07:52:08 UTC
Remco - all three brightness settings default to auto on Boom.

If the behaviour is as expected if all are set to auto, can we consider this issue fixed/invalid/resolved?
Comment 9 Remco Derksen 2009-09-28 08:10:03 UTC
Do you mean that the default has always been auto, or that it is now ?

My Boom didnt default to Auto, but maybe that was just this one unit ?

In any case if the default is Auto, thats fine with me :)

Thanks for the feedback.
