Bugzilla – Bug 14189
Scanning locks up on FLAC file
Last modified: 2015-02-06 08:30:35 UTC
I've run into a strange problem when doing a full scan with 7.4, that does not occur with 7.3. The scan stops when it hits the second track of the album "The Very Best of Starship by Jefferson Starship", the track title is "Jane". These tracks are all in FLAC format via EAC, as are all my music files. The logs show no obvious error, just list the file being worked on. I have re-ripped the track with EAC and DBPoweramp with the same outcome. If I remove the file the full scan completes successfully. Also there were no errors during the rip, and as I said above 7.3.4 has no problem with it.
Sorry to say but I am able to scan this file without a problem. Do you have the latest nightly build?
I am currently at Version: 7.4 - r28573 @ Sat Sep 19 04:02:56 PDT 2009. I will get the latest and try again. I tested on both Windows and Mac and can scan this file OK. I'm assigning this to QA for now.
One thing odd I did notice about your file was that the embedded MD5 signature is all 0's. I've never seen this before in a FLAC file. The scanner doesn't care about this value though.
OK...not a big deal for me...I can live without the file...just seemed very strange to me. I tried a few diff releases of 7.4 to no avail. I will tinker as I have time. Andy, Well I re-encoded the file to level 5,. It was at level 1. And now it works? I've uploaded the re-encoded file for you. Very strange. Interesting. Also there are some tag differences between your 2 versions. The level 1 version has cover art and an application tag "Medieval CUE Splitter (www.medieval.it)". Could you try making the tags identical on both versions and see if that may be the source of the problem?
Can't now but I'll redo them tomorrow and let you know. Andy, I don't know how that "Medieval Cue..." tag got into that file. I have used that program on an other set of files, but not that one. Maybe from some mass tagging it found its way into it, not sure. The legitimate set of tracks with that tag do scan ok. Anyway all is good now. Sorry I couldn't help more, too many Novel SLES problems here at work, very distracting. I will keep an eye on this and when time permits, try to re-create it. While I have your ear...I notice that the Squeezebox Server icon only shows up in the notification area when the Squeezebox Server is first installed. On subsequent reboots the server is running but the icon is gone, and I don't hid inactive icons. No biggie, was just curious. Great product! I espouse its virtues every chance I get. Thanks for your help. Is this still a problem?
