Description Dan Evans 2009-09-18 14:56:57 UTC
Using Snow Leopard, when firewall is ON, using default settings, the server updates do not download to ~Library/Caches/Squeezebox/Updates. However, the firmware updates for players _do_ update.

When I turned the firewall OFF and edited the pref file to recheck for updates, I immediately got the update file in ~Library/Caches/Squeezebox/Updates.

I'll have to investigate this. We'll need at least advice for users who don't want to disable the firewall.
Comment 2 Dan Evans 2009-09-18 16:14:41 UTC
Is there a way to induce an update? The only way I know of is to install yesterday's version, but that makes it difficult to test changes.

Dan - could you please enable debugging for server.update, let SC try to update again with the firewall enabled, then upload the server.log file?

Can't test this here as the server version doesn't have the firewall settings in the prefpane.

QA - could you please try to reproduce update issues when the firewall on OSX 10.6 is enabled? I tried it on the server version I have, but it would work fine. Make sure you've enabled debugging for server.update - thanks!

Dan - I can hardly imagine the firewall would be a problem. In this case I'd expect all services, internet radio etc. to fail too. They're all using straight forward http requests to www.sn.com.

Well, Michael, you may be right. I tested again and it downloaded correctly even with the Firewall ON. I'll keep an eye on this but not sure what the issue is now, or if there is one.
