Currently there is no persistent visual indicator that the SP device is in a MUTE state.

What is the drawback of not having such an indicator?  How does not having one affect usability?

If you can't hear any music, the first thing you're probably going to try to do is turn the volume knob up.  Which gives immediate visual feedback.

I'd be curious to hear a use case where the lack of a persistent mute icon is an actual problem.  Resolving as "wontfix" for now.
