Description James Richardson 2009-09-18 12:06:34 UTC
Simulating the 'out of box' experience with a duet that has <7.4 firmware will result in PIN being displayed on the Controller

Steps to reproduce
Load 7.3.3 or MP firmware onto Jive/Ray
Factory Reset Jive/Ray
Power down both devices
Shut down any active SC/SBS local hosts
Log onto test.sn with admin account
Remove the MAC address of Jive/Ray
Power up jive/ray
walk through the setup procedure (when prompted for network, log onto network with access to test.sn)
Ray will update
Jive will prompt with Player PIN

Here is the serial capture from a Jive doing the above steps.

Fixed bug 14127, workaround issue with older Jive firmware not updating when setting up a Ray. The PIN screen will still be shown but only for several seconds

This unfortunately needs a lot of testing, all possible combinations of Jive setup with/without a Ray, etc. :(
Comment 4 James Richardson 2009-09-23 13:14:03 UTC
I see the pin screen for about 4 seconds, is there anyway we can shorten that time? or replace the message with 'please wait' instead? or is the PIN hard coded in the firmware.

Nope, just have to live with it.

Reopening and targeting to 7.4.1. This needs more review. Can we alter the PIN displayed? Display a blank PIN? Something besides showing a PIN.
