I encoded 2 test tracks to MP3 and ALAC and the scanner correctly picked up the iTunNORM Sound Check data. From what I can tell Apple didn't change anything. Steven you might be interested in checking this out. See the forum post for more info.

MP3 with SoundCheck ITUNNORM

This is a file which has a SoundCheck value shown in iTunes 9, but this tag is not scanned in SS (7.4.2). Seems only to affect MP3 files. My Apple Lossless files show a Volume Adjustment in SS, but MP3 files like this do not.

Fixed bug 14110, iTunNORM parsing was broken if there was only one comment
Comment 4 Mike Walsh 2009-12-15 20:04:29 UTC
what does that mean, "only one comment"?
Comment 5 Andy Grundman 2009-12-16 04:45:04 UTC
I meant if there was only one comment tag present. Usually iTunes files have multiple iTun* comments, that's why this wasn't seen earlier.
