Bugzilla – Bug 14077
Preference Pane won't stop itself during auto update on PowerPC (iMac)
Last modified: 2009-10-21 09:45:55 UTC
When prompted on my iMac, the installer stops the server but doesn't close the control panel and system preferences. Prompts user to do it instead. Once user does it, then the install completes. A few hours later, repeated the process on my macbook pro (Intel) and the installer stopped the server, closed the panel and sys prefs. I wonder if this is also related to failure on my powerPC unit to have playlists scanned properly.
This is most likely a performance issue: the installer is only waiting for five seconds for the prefpane to be closed before it's displaying that message. This can happen on slower machines or when there's heavy load. Can you reproduce this behaviour? If so, what would happen if you just waited a little longer (without clicking the warning away)? Would the prefpane eventually get closed? We could consider increasing the timeout value if that helped. But other than that I think it's a minor issue, as by closing the prefpane manually (as the message says) it does work. It's expected behaviour.
Matt - is this still a reproducible issue?
