Description Ben Klaas 2009-09-15 21:14:18 UTC
My unattended PVT Baby running on AC power (but has battery) is shutting itself down. This has happened a number of times today and others are also reporting it.

Campfire discussion:
Ben K.
my pvt baby keeps powering itself down. it's on AC power (but has a battery)...is there any valid configuration that would cause that, or am I seeing a bug?
I never see it happen, I just leave my desk and when I come back it's off (not soft, hard off)

caleb c.
Ben, that's not good.
sounds like a bug.
what happens?

Tom W.
I see that with my pb2 now
I assumed it was a pb2 thing

Ben K.
i'm running r7568. so far all I know is that I've had to power up my baby 3 or 4 times today. I'm never looking at it when it powers down

caleb c.
how long do you wait ben?
Maybe this is the app powering it off? The app waits for 1/2 hour of inactivity, then turns off.
However, it should only do that when there is a batter and no AC.

Mark M.
Ben, I thought I was seeing the same thing today, but then I realized I was plugged into a switched outlet that was off :)

Ben K.
most recently I left to pick up my daughter from the bus. was gone much less than 30mins

caleb c.
ben, will you check this:
Ben K.
battery icon has the little ac plug in it, when i pull the ac it changes to the battery-only icon. so, looks like power is coming to it
caleb c.
cd /sys/bus/i2c/devices/1-0010
hey, I see them same thing I think.
I thought I must have left it in an off state

Ben K.
don't know if it's relevant, but I have this baby pointed to a boom

caleb c.
cat power_mode
cat charger_state
cat battery_voltage

looks right.

Come to think of it my PVT Baby also was in power off state when I came back from dinner and I did not turn it off myself. No battery. I happen to have serial attached to it, maybe this helps:

Yep, I've seen this too on 7578.

Maybe it's my battery support patch in lua. I'll take a look if richard doens't have it solved by morning.

I think this is fixed now, just testing.
Comment 4 Ben Klaas 2009-09-16 11:06:42 UTC
FYI, 47 mins of uptime using the code from Richard's fix. Looking good here.
