See attached error image.

When doing an 'upgrade' from 7.3.3 or 7.4 to 7.4 I have noticed that since
~r28500 the installer is not waiting long enough for ST to stop and exit.

We should wait a bit longer before throwing up this error message.

James - latest change was 28239, about 3 weeks ago. The screenshots rather look like Vista/7 than XP? When you see this again, can you check in the task manager whether squeezetray.exe is indeed still running? Make sure you've checked the "show all user's processes" or similar. Could you please provide a screenshot of that list?

One more question: would "Retry" eventually work? Is SqueezeTray being closed?

I tried to reproduce this, but can't. I've seen similar behaviour with the scanner not closing quickly enough, but Retry would work in that case. As the installer is waiting up to 2 minutes for SqueezeTray to be closed, I doubt increasing that timeout would help. There must something else be wrong.

I was wondering whether there was another user session running in the background. Thus the request for the taskmanager screenshot. I've seen similar behaviour with WHS installations where users were connected through RDP, but try to install through the WHS console. In this case the installer can't "kill" the other task as it's owned by a different user/session.

Michael: yes, it was vista

Yes, squeezetray is still running, and does close about 15 seconds after the message pops up (I'll try to get a capture of TaskManager)

Yes, clicking retry does work properly

Yes, I have seen the same error with Scanner not exiting fast enough as well, and yes retry on that error also works
