Bugzilla – Bug 14042
Need way to add an app to home menu after installation (on-device)
Last modified: 2013-04-29 19:04:37 UTC
I can't figure out how to add something from "My Apps" to the home menu. This seems like I should be able to do it from the context menu. So, if I have selected My Apps->Podcast Player, I should be able to hit '+', and get a menu to send it to the home menu, no?
We do need some other way to add to the home menu after an app has been installed, but using a context menu doesn't seem right. It should probably just be part of the app's main menu.
FYI, for 7.4 we're only doing context menus for "playable items". Scope has been limited so we can meet our dates. I'm not against this as a context menu, but 8.0 at the earliest sorry.
No need to apologize :-) Just raising an issue I found so it can be tracked and resolved, even if the resolution is WONTFIX, or 8.0. -C

A major issue. Would like to get it in before 8.0 but I respect Ben's time issues.
Don't think Ben has anything to do for this bug, it's mine. We just need to define a menu item for toggling the home menu status of a given app, within the app setup menu. Would not be much work.
I should add that putting it within the menu won't work for all apps, though. For example RadioTime which uses an external menu.
