Description Max Spicer 2009-09-03 08:06:27 UTC
Since the change of the + button to More instead of Add, there is no longer a button shortcut to do the Play Next function. This used to be accessed by holding +, but that now does a straight forward Add instead. Could this functionality now be mapped to holding Play instead? As far as I know, nothing is currently bound to holding Play. Hopefully this shortcut wouldn't be too unintuitive - single press of play = Play, long press of play = Play Next.

FYI - Erland's plugins use a long press of play to invoke a mixer (brings up a menu of available mixers), but I agree there needs to be an easier way to get the play next function.

This is part of the context menu already, so no need to add another feature, and as Sue has pointed out play hold is already in use by 3rd party plug-ins.

This can be done later with the 'short-cut' applet if needed.

Sounds like there's no bug here. There's no work for me here, at least.

Hold on a sec, you've actually removed a (much loved) feature from the classic SB ui. There has always been a shortcut for play next. With the More button reworking, this functionality was removed. In the current, standard UI, play hold is unmapped, so why not use it to carry on providing the feature? Can 3rd party plugins not then remap it if they want? It seems a bit odd to not use a button, just in case 3rd party plugins want to use it, especially when you're removing a classic squeezebox ui feature. I know there's a context button, but this is about shortcuts.

I'm going to play nice and not re-open this bug, but I'm sure hoping that someone else will!

These bugs have all been marked resolved and belong to a component which is being removed. Therefore they have been moved to the most applicable of the new components.
