Bugzilla – Bug 13789
problems with utf-8 filenames/tags
Last modified: 2010-04-08 17:24:42 UTC
Created attachment 5759 [details] server.log I'm running squeezecenter 7.4 - 26071 on linux and just tried getting at some Sigur Rós tracks. The tracks exist in the filesystem, and appear fine, and the tracks are also read and understood correctly by easytag. Squeezecenter, however, doesn't seem to display the utf-8 strings consistantly: If I browse the filesystem to Sigur Rós, SC shows this for my location in the tree: Home > Music Folder > artists > Sigur Rós Among the albums listed, there is: "Ãgætis Byrjun" which should be "Ágætis Byrjun" Inside that it says: File Format: Unknown Location: /var/media/audio/artists/Sigur Rs/Ágætis Byrjun Date Modified: Monday, August 31, 2009, 6:17 PM Also, in the server.log file there is stuff like: Slim::Formats::readTags (163) File missing: /var/media/audio/artists/Sigur Rós/Takk/06-Sæglópur.mp3 now that file doesn't exist, but 06-Sæglópur.mp3 does. anyway, things seem pretty inconsistent, and I'm not 100% sure if the tags and the filesystem paths are all encoded the same way. All I know is that squeezecenter seems to have problems with this while other programs don't. I can email a developer an example of a problematic file upon request, but I think attaching a mp3 to the bug might be a bad idea.
Aaron could you please email me the sample files? Steven I may need a hand with this. :)
Ross, I emailed a file a couple days ago. Did you receive it?
I did Aaron, thank you. Please allow me more time.
Aaron: please retest with 7.4.1, we made some UTF-8 fixes that should address this issue. If you are still able to see the issue, please upload a new log file and reopen the bug.
I haven't tested with 7.4.1, but it does appear to be fixed in Version: 7.5.0 - r29002 @ Sun Oct 25 02:00:08 PDT 2009.
Thanks for the update.
This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release. If you are still seeing this issue, please let us know!
