Description andrew 2009-08-28 10:50:43 UTC
Component networking is probably wrong. Broken DNS is a symptom, but not where the bug is.

Something is creating the file /usr/bin/0.wma and it is big, filling the root fileystem.

Next reboot, the dhcp client cannot create /etc/resolv.conf because the filesystem if full. Baby has an IP address, but no DNS configuration. Without DNS, it cannot resolve mysqueezebox.com, so fails to connect to it. Because of this, it cannot connect to the local server either. And as a result, it cannot perform a software update etc...

I think this file /usr/bin/0.wma is being created by listening to internet radio, because that is about all i do with baby. In particular, i've only been listening to the Swiss radio DRS3.

Also take a look at http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67028 where i talk about this bug.

Felix: does this look like the Controller bug we were investigating before?
Comment 2 Felix Mueller 2009-08-28 21:04:59 UTC
James: no

Richard: Is that file /usr/bin/0.wma from Line In?

Having DNS failed issues with firmware r7307 on PVT unit. Seeing "function 0x5cbef0" listed for Favorites and the menu choice on Advanced between Diagnostics and Language. Diagnostics screen confirms DNS failed and therefore can't connect to mysb.com, even though wireless strength is 100%.

Can't check file system. I don't have a serial cable here at home for keyboard, and ssh fails.

Not sure how to repro, but here's what I did: I took battery-only Baby home. Was streaming Pandora and some local San Francisco radio station (KNBR 680 for SF Giants baseball)in battery-only mode. Turned off unit with momementary Power button press, and left it off for awhile. Tried to turn back on later, but screen was Please Charge Me. Tried recharging, but after overnight the unit continued to display this screen. Removed battery, and plugged directly into power cord. Now see function 0x5cbef0.

In this mode, screen displays these items only on home menu:

My Music
Internet Radio
function: 0x5cbef0

Never used Line In, either.

These are all bugs that have been marked 'fixed' or 'closed' but still have the bug_meeting keyword. They were not showing up in James's bug meeting search.

Please let me know (chris_owens@logitech.com) if these need to be brought up at the next bug meeting. In the meantime I will fix the search.
