Description Mickey Gee 2009-08-27 21:59:44 UTC
I have a PVT unit with firmware 7261. It's running only with a battery. I didn't charge up the battery at all beforehand, so it's not completely charged up.

I've been running it on battery only for about 4-5 hours straight. It was doing great during the 4-5 hours. Then it started rebooting constantly. I was playing Pandora and then it suddenly stopped by itself and rebooted. It would reboot, start trying to play Pandora, and then reboot again.

I then did a factory reset, and during setup it rebooted right before I was to select a wireless network.

Now I can turn it on and it will boot successfully. I wait a minute or so, and then the screen will go dark. I think it's turned off itself, but there's nothing on the screen indicating that.

I think the battery charge is low, and it may be just that we need to:

1. fail gracefully when battery charge is low, or
2. boot up into a "your battery is low and I refuse to boot up" screen

Now running 7307 firmware. Seems to behave completely differently. Reassigning to me to review.

With r7438, the Baby turned back on and displayed the home menu for about 5 seconds before it abruptly turned off (screen goes dark). Then it booted up again, without touching the Power button, and repeated this sequence -- displayed the home menu again, and turned off automatically. It stayed off after the second time.

Bug #13736. Set persistent flag to check if we're off because of power failure or because of kill signal. If off because of power failure, don't come back on again.

Fixed: set flag to indicate power has failed, and don't start up again, even if power button pressed.
