Currently this requires an explicit rescan. We could consider doing the deletion
on an automatic scan (the one triggered by a change in the iTunes XML file),
though people may be confused to see all their playlists disappear for the
duration of the scan (with no message displayed indicating the scan).

possible to make the playlists a bit more persistent than the database, so that
they would only get removed when the actual adding of the data occurs?  or
something?

or is this getting too complicated?

There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006.  I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
