I should also add that ideally I would like to use artist, ablum and/or genre
ids to filter the search results as well.

Thanks.

Re-reading this, no longer sure what is asked is what I think...

I was thinking of the search command of the web GUI: based on a search string, it returns artists, albums and songs matching the string.

The quoted message seems to indicate what we're after are SONGS containing a string or having an artist or album containing that string. I am not sure of the use case. Why also filter by ID? I am confused.

Closing for now. Re-open or new bug for extensions to "search" as implemented in SVN 6948.
