Bugzilla – Bug 13458
Alarm missing when connected to SN
Last modified: 2009-10-05 14:29:35 UTC
When my SP device is connected to Test.SN, I am not able to set on device alarms, as the menu item is missing from Settings > When connected to local server the alarms menu item is present
Firmware r7062 >
Andy, I'm passing this over to you initially. Can you comment on why alarm is not an item from SN?
The reason this happens is the check in playerSettingsMenu for $client->isPlayer returns false when the menu request is for a disconnected player. A disconnected player certainly should not return true for isPlayer so I think the fix for this bug is probably somewhere on the SP side.
Andy, punting back to you. I'm sending the menu command with the connected player (still using direct:1) and I never see the alarmSettings item appear.
It works for me. :\
andy, punting back to you, as this happens on baby, desktop and fab4 when connected via SN directly.
Can't reproduce, let's see if QA can.

I am seeing alarms as of today
While connected to test.sn I found the following Boom is working Baby is working Fab4 is failing (I get prompted to connect to the last local SBS) Jive is failing (attempts to connect to the last local SBS, fails and can not continue) "Problem Connecting" with no path to SN
I have never been able to get an alarm menu to come back from SN, since I began looking for it.... Andy, can you describe the steps you are doing when you are seeing it work?
FWIW, I can't get alarm menu to come back from an SN-only player either.
We can't launch with a broken alarm clock feature. There's a prominent alarm clock button on the front of the device; CNET, for one, specifically pointed out this feature as one of their biggest question marks in terms of what they'll test for review. Use case: - running r7526, with Squeezebox Server 28505. - performed factory reset. - connected to existing SN account (didn't re-register). Issues I'm seeing: - alarm icon is displayed on device. - pressing alarm button does nothing. - no "alarms" tab is available under the player settings tab on fab4.squeezenetwork.com. - no menu option for alarm clock is available in settings.
I am seeing this on Controller and Baby a lot. Couple of comments: The alarm icon should always be preset in my opinion, however, if not "available" 1. Add a notification as to why you cannot access the Alarm menu (after trying to select the menu item). This approach is not a solution, but rather a band-aid. 2. Add popup that suggests method to correct issue. Both of the above would be treated with a context menu. Adding a bump effect (default currently for options that cannot be nav. into) is NOT an option. A bump offers no usable feedback and is not the proper notification in this case. If you cannot see this option when a daily alarm has been set it could be very confusing to users...
Verified settingsAlarm item is returned in the following request on SN. Don't know what else I can do. menu 0 100 direct:1 menu:menu
== Auto-comment from SVN commit #7336 to the network repo by andy == == https://svn.slimdevices.com/network?view=revision&revision=7336 == Bug 13458, menu request was being sent to a random server instead of the correct one if the player was connected
Menu now appears correctly, though, like many menu items, it won't appear or be usable without a server connection.
