Bugzilla – Bug 13451
Update notification does launch Growl & PrefPane, temporarily blocking playback
Last modified: 2009-10-05 14:33:29 UTC
The notification should only use Growl or PrefPane, but not both. Sometimes the PrefPane is still opened, but the SC panel wouldn't open, leaving SC locked for too many seconds to guarantee playback.
== Auto-comment from SVN commit #28201 to the slim repo by michael == == https://svn.slimdevices.com/slim?view=revision&revision=28201 == Fixed Bug: 13451 Description: don't call PrefPane from signalupdate.scpt - it was incorrectly launched even when Growl was installed. Instead test for Growl first time we have to signal an update. If it fails, don't try again, but open the prefpane instead.
too many hours - I don't like applescript...
FYI: re your question in the forum, just for the record: "Did you also get the Growl notification?" Ans: Growl did not appear the last time this bug occurred. Re: Applescript. Agreed. Hated it back in the early 90s; hate it today. Long live Hypercard! :-)
