Description Teus de Jong 2009-08-07 02:14:29 UTC
I consider this a bug (complaints about it pop up rather frequently):

The controller should respect the settings of SC where the display of composers as artists is concerned. If on the tab Music Library at the first entry (Composer, Band and Orchestra in Artists) nothing is chosen, composers are rightly not displayed in the Web UI. But they are still displayed on the controller (Music Library -> artists). I think the controller should follow the settings of SC. If that's impossible, the SC should have it's own setting for this.

Aa far as I know this is in all versions of SC (checked in 7.3.x and 7.4).

This is annoying as i have 2700 cds and with Composer un-checked it still groups them on the duet remote.
I should not have to retag all my music

See bug 13284. What you're seeing could be a result of query caching. When the setting changed it would have no effect on the artist list because the old query was being reused.

Just for the record, I'm not seeing the problem mentioned. If I have tracks or a full album tagged with a COMPOSER, for example, and that person has no albums as an artist, then the composer is not shown in the browse artists list in either the web interface or SqueezePlay devices.

I wanted to bump this one. I'm seeing this exact behaviour in 7.6 still. It's a little annoying because when you choose one of these albums in which the artist is composer it causes the controller to hang and actually won't play the song.

I too feel the controller, squeezeplay etc should follow the lead of the web interface and not show them if not specified to do so at the server.

Agree with the comments here, please fix this. It is highly irritating to have to delete a potentially useful tag in order to have albums correctly displayed under only the Album Artist.

As discussed here:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82627

I also vote on this .

The squeezeplay interfaces should honor the sbs setting to keep or not keep composers out of the artist list or just as important the album list for an artist all the album where he7she/it is a composer would also end up here.

Regardless of server setting

I see the target is 8.0.0 on this one. It sure would be nice if it would make it into 7.6

A good majority of us are using some type of handheld and this is really annoying. Please!!!!!

Alan, i thought this might be inside the scope of onebrowser
Comment 8 Alan Young 2011-04-08 01:52:14 UTC
It is. Note the onebrowser keyword.
