Squeezebox Alarm Display does not display choice from SqueezeNetwork
Last modified: 2009-08-13 22:25:54 UTC
Ticket 090730-000229 Squeezebox Classic FW 127 (turned OFF) SqueezeNetwork - Alarm SB Classic Display set to "Screensaver when playing" set to "Now Playing" when Playing Symptom: When Squeezebox Classic is off, and an alarm is set, when the alarm goes off, it just displays Date and Time, and not Now Playing ScreenSaver. Was able to recreate issue here. Thanks, LaRon
This is by design, when an alarm is going off the date/time is shown, the idea being you are likely to want to know what time it is.
The desired display is a matter of personal preference. E.g, If you already have a clock in the room, you don't necessarily want or need to see what time it is when an "alarm" goes off. Also, sometimes this feature is used merely to start music playing at a specified time (e.g., when someone is coming home from work) not necessarily to wake up to go to work. Bottom line is that the user's specified choice should prevail at all times -- The user can specify desired screensaver display in the preferences on the user's account at squeezenetwork, com. So, either the same preferred screen saver should apply uniformly at all times, or there could be a separate parameter for the user to specify which one they want to see when the alarm "wakes up". Impossible to second-guess what someone may want in a particular circumstance.
