Description Mickey Gee 2009-07-31 23:11:37 UTC
During multiple attempts to use a Baby PB2 with 6872 firmware, I would sometimes experience intermittent or flaky wireless connectivity. I've tried 4-5 times to perform setup after resetting to factory defaults at Mt. View and home, and I've seen different results every single time.

- After resetting Baby to factory defaults using the long Power button press-hold down More-touch Power-release More sequence, I was unable to successfully connect to a wireless network. Retried "Try Again" 4-5 times unsuccessfully.
- Fails to connect to previously reliable music library
- Bursts of "buffering ..." messages appear when playing tracks from music library

Recent firmware versions had much more reliable wireless connectivity.

Mickey: I did some tests here with r6872 and connected to several wireless APs (different brands, different settings) without issue using a PB2.

I only quickly tested playing Pandora, but that also was fine.

Not sure what else to test.

Mickey: What AP were you connecting to?

Was this at home, or in MV?

Seems to be better in later firmware versions. Close for now and will reopen if needed.

I am having intermittent wireless connectivity problems too. This happens when I have 100% signal strength and am about 10 feet from the wireless router.

Encryption is WPA-PSK from a Linksys WRT54GS with Firmware v7.50.2, Jun. 7, 2007

The problem seems more likely to happen when I'm navigating menus on the Radio. Powering the Radio off and back on again always solves the problem but putting it in standby does not.

The problem is happening sufficiently often to make it's successful use as an alarm rather dubious.

With much regret a combination of bugs 13181, 14894 and 14934 have led me to return my Squeezebox Radio for a refund.
