Description Caleb Crome 2009-07-28 22:34:05 UTC
There was a previous bug on button bounce, but that was for decoding the hardware. I'm pretty sure this one is in the jive app somewhere.

I'm running the latest baby, r6826, PB1 unit, though I can't think of any hardware differences between PB1 & later that would affect this issue.

Symptom: I see multiple presses when in Settings->Shuffle.

To Reproduce: Go to Settings->Shuffle. I keep track by starting on 'Off'. Then hit the big knob 3 times. Then 3 times again. and again and again. Usually, you get only 3 ticks and end up back on 'Off'. However occasionally you get multiple clicks, maybe 4, 5,6, I'm not sure if it's predictable.

If this was the end of the story, I'd thing the problem was in the knob button debounce code. However, if you hit 'play' instead of the center knob, which in the mode does exactly the same thing, you get exactly the same multiple click behavior!

That's what make me suspect of the app. It's certainly possible that both the single-button debouncer (knob-press) and key-matrix (play) both have debounce issues, but I'm a little suspect of the app.

I think this is network related.

Richard: Wasn't this fixed in the latest MP firmware?
Comment 3 Richard Titmuss 2009-08-11 09:23:48 UTC
Yes, the button bounce should now be fixed.

For options like Shuffle, this includes a network round-trip to SC/SN. So maybe this is causing additional problems.

this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.

I think this is now fixed, not seen or heard of button bounce for a while now.
