Description Roy Silvernail 2003-12-18 14:31:49 UTC
Certain internet streams will begin to "stutter" or break up. The symptom will
not self-correct once started. Stop/restart the stream will often clear up the
stuttering initially, but it may return.

The problem appears to be a buffer underrun, and appears sensitive to network
congestion. Parallel tests with XMMS show that XMMS does not suffer buffer
underrun on the same stream. For reference, the XMMS stream buffer is 32KB.
This symptom did not occur prior to the 5.0 release.

Testing performed with the 12/15/03 cvs build, Athlon 1900+ at ~8%, 1 GB RAM
w/588MB free, swap 100% free, Gentoo Linux 1.4, one Squeezebox (active) and one
SliMP3 (idle).

I believe this is fixed now with Dean's checkin to try harder when reading metadata.

There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006. I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
