Bugzilla – Bug 12940
Artist found by search, missing in "Home > Artists"
Last modified: 2012-03-20 11:28:46 UTC
Created attachment 5488 [details] Screenshots - "Artists.png" is artists list with Aerosmith missing. "Search.png" shows search results for Aerosmith. When looking through the full list of artists, I notice that at least one is missing, even though searching for the artist by name finds it in the database. This is not a problem with missing articles - the artist in question is "Aerosmith".
If you do a Clear and Rescan, does the artist show up? Are your Tags for that artist correct?
Cleared library and rescanned everything. Aerosmith still does not appear in the list of artists, at least under "A". Looking at one album... walkera@media:~/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic> mp3info2 * File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/02 - Uncle Salty.mp3 Title: Uncle Salty Track: 2/9 Composer: Tom Hamilton / Steven Tyler Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/03 - Adam's Apple.mp3 Title: Adam's Apple Track: 3/9 Composer: Steven Tyler Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/04 - Walk This Way.mp3 Title: Walk This Way Track: 4/9 Composer: Joe Perry Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/05 - Big Ten Inch Record.mp3 Title: Big Ten Inch Record Track: 5/9 Composer: Fred Weismantel Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/06 - Sweet Emotion.mp3 Title: Sweet Emotion Track: 6/9 Composer: Tom Hamilton / Steven Tyler Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/07 - No More No More.mp3 Title: No More No More Track: 7/9 Composer: Joe Perry / Steven Tyler Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/08 - Round and Round.mp3 Title: Round and Round Track: 8/9 Composer: Brad Whitford / Steven Tyler Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock File: /home/walkera/GCMP/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic/09 - You See Me Crying.mp3 Title: You See Me Crying Track: 9/9 Composer: Darren Solomon / Steven Tyler Performer: Aerosmith Orchestra (etc): Aerosmith Album: Toys in the Attic Year: 1975 Comment: Genre: Rock walkera@media:~/Music/reviewed/Aerosmith/Toys In The Attic> When I look for the artists "Steven Tyler" and "Joe Perry", I also find nothing under J, P, S, or T. So, while I can pull up these albums using the search, they are not shown in the Artists display, even though when I type "Aerosmith" in, the search results do list "Aerosmith" as an available artist.
Steven: can you have a look at this?
Hi Walker, thanks for dinner the other night! Could we trouble you to attach one of the "missing" songs to the bug? There might be something funny in the tags as SC sees them.
Created attachment 5608 [details] Sample Aerosmith song from library
Hooray, attachment uploading worked today. If it'd help, we can arrange remote access to the server running this.
I can't easily reproduce this (I'm running 7.4 on my work laptop (XP)). That is to say, it scans and plays okay. Walker, could I get you to find the scanner executable (I forget where it is on linux, though) and run scanner --wipe and attach the output to this bug as a file? There might be something interesting in there...
[09-08-13 07:30:16.5544] main::main (122) Starting SqueezeCenter scanner (v7.3.3, r27044, Mon Jun 15 14:48:51 PDT 2009) That's all I get. Presumably there are magic strings to pass to the --debug flag that will enable more output, but I haven't gone into your libraries to figure out what those are.
Upgraded to 7.4.0 - r28672. Did a clear & rescan. Problem still exists.
This is no longer happening.
