On Fab4 Touchless - text entry with OnScreen Keyboard is confusing
Last modified: 2009-10-23 13:48:01 UTC
Using the Fab4 Touchless unit, during any 'text entry' page the On Screen Keyboard is displayed. This does not make sense to show this, if I need to use the IR remote to enter text. Instead, we should display the text entry screens like we do for baby, or Jive, with the 'text scroll' screens
Yes, IR remote entry on fab4 should essentially present the same interface as our newest controller/knob-entry UI. (the text area with "vertical wheel" approach). Noah, have we ever done screen comps for this?
Please see guide/ref. in svn.
Created attachment 5487 [details] Guideline - remote text entry
Just to be clear, touchless != 10'UI we will be producing a Fab4 that has no touchscreen. I'm assuming those units will be primarily running the 3'UI for that. The screen ref above is fine, but it's definitely got the big text look of the 10'UI
Do we need a 3ft text entry design?
These are marked as CXR, yet that milestone is over now. Please re-target accordingly.
Ben- both 3ft and 10ft assets are checked into SVN. Reassigning to you to for implementation. Target Milestone will need to be addressed by Pat or Weldon.
Bumping Milestone
touchless should always bring up an interface that works intuitively with a remote.
directive is for a 10' UI that serves as the main "remote" UI. The IR remote should work in the 3' UI (aka "small text" skin), but we are not prioritized for developing an intuitive IR remote interface on that skin. The IR remote does work on a keyboard screen, whether it is visually confusing or not. WONTFIX
