Description James Richardson 2009-07-17 10:24:18 UTC
With r6642 the start up sound is causing a very bad sound on the internal speaker. Also, the navigation sounds are VERY low volume.

Bug #12914
Attempt to fix audio playback on fab4:
1. Modify the mutexes so that the sound effects process does not need to lock the decode_audio mutex. This should make the two playback threads independant.
2. Use different priorities for the audio processes, audio playback takes priority over sound effects.
3. Use monotomic timers for the debug code.

None of this seems to help. Disabling the debug code (so far) does seem to have fixed the audio playback. I am however concerned that some underlying bug has gone unfixed.

This should be fixed now, but I am leaving the bug open as it needs further investigation.

I have the latest firmware (r6981), and am still seeing sluggish player UI behaviour when navigating, which I believe is related to the stuttering sound issue.

These are marked as CXR, yet that milestone is over now. Please re-target accordingly.
Comment 6 Richard Titmuss 2009-09-08 02:21:10 UTC
I've reviewed this again, and it appears to work with and without debug. Case closed.
