Description Richard Titmuss 2009-07-15 04:10:06 UTC
We need to improve the crash log text, and actions available. The current text is:

  System crash

A system crash has been detected. A log file is being sent to Logitech for analysis.

  Continue >

This needs to be done for the next localization pass, and probably for CXR.
Comment 1 Weldon Matt 2009-07-15 12:02:57 UTC
Any suggestions? What actions could we make available?
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2009-07-22 10:48:21 UTC
Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any
player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's
specific to the single original product.
Comment 3 Weldon Matt 2009-07-22 16:41:00 UTC
Assigning to Richard so I can get suggestions for text... I don't know what the user's options are here.

Comment 5 Richard Titmuss 2009-07-23 07:53:05 UTC
Matt, I'd suggest two options:

  Yes, send diagnostic information
  No, never send information

The first one opts you in, so crash logs will be always sent. The second one opts you out, so you never get sent logs. This way this dialog will only appear once. If you change you mind, you'll have to factory reset, having an option to turn this on/off is maybe a future enhancement.

Reset priority before triage.
Comment 7 Weldon Matt 2009-07-27 13:28:51 UTC
Richard, love your solution, with those strings. Let's ship it!

Don't think we can/should change the supporting text string, just the options available.
Comment 8 Richard Titmuss 2009-07-28 05:27:53 UTC
Matt, I was hoping for better supporting text too. I've had some negative feedback about the existing wording, including "System crash".
Comment 9 Wadzinski Tom 2009-07-28 05:35:21 UTC
added string from comment #5 in r6811, still awaiting Matt's response to comment #8, Matt reassign to me when you are ready.
Comment 10 Weldon Matt 2009-07-28 11:06:45 UTC
"System Error

Sorry, your device had to restart due to a system error. Is it OK if we collect diagnostic information on this issue to help us fix it?

Yes, always send
No, never send"
Comment 11 Wadzinski Tom 2009-07-28 11:24:11 UTC
strings from comment #10 added in r6824. non-string work still todo
Comment 12 Mickey Gee 2009-07-28 11:35:59 UTC
English grammar tweak:

Yes -- always send
No -- never send
