Description Bryan Alton 2009-07-15 01:07:29 UTC
On Controller and Squeezeplay, if using Music Library->Artists and drill down goes to an Artist with a single track (typically on a compilation album) - play button will add whole album to playlist and start playing Track 1 - generally not the Artist track in question.

On WebUI and SB3 interface - play on the track will play the correct track.

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any
player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's
specific to the single original product.

Bryan, slightly confused here, if you only have one track by that artist, how is it possible for the squeezebox to play a different track from the album?

Only case where I see this occurring is on compilations? Please advise.

The problem is that on a compilation album where there is only one track by an artist.

If you go down using Music Library->Artists to the artist - it will show the compilation album and then down again it will show the single track but if you play the single track by touching it - then all tracks on the album are added to playlist which was not the intended action since the user wanted to play a specific trackj by the artist.

this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.

This happens with both compilations and "guest artist" albums (non-compilations with an albumartist and different artists on different tracks.

This should have a higher severity level and a much higher priority.

<Bump>

Seriously guys... this needs to be fixed for Baby's release. Any time you play the _wrong_ thing it's not good. It works correctly on non-SP based players and it works correctly from the web interface.

Here's another attempt at an explanation, maybe it will help:

- Browse Artists and navigate to an artist that appears on a compilation
  album.

- Navigate into the album. If the artist appears on just one track, then
only a single track will be listed.

- Click Baby's knob, touch the track on Fab4, or press Play to play the track.

- Instead of playing just the one track, the entire album will be played,
starting with track number one. It's not playing the user's selection!

This looks like a duplicate of bug 10449 which I reported a while back
Comment 8 Steven 2009-10-14 07:53:39 UTC
I have this issue since I updated my system to version 7.4 (Squeezecenter running on a netgear Duo and a Squeezebox Duet controller). I did not have this issue before while running version 7.3.3

This added info might help.
