Bugzilla – Bug 12858
WLAN Driver for Intentional Testing
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:29:44 UTC
Have software ready for intentional emissions testing by 7/20
I have the driver and the test application running ok, but using any test commands nothing seems to happen. I've emailed Paul et all at Atheros for better instructions how to properly load the wireless driver and how to use the test application.
Done, necessary files sent to Caleb with instructions.
Created attachment 5483 [details] WLAN testing files for baby. Thanks Felix! Hello Caleb Got it working. :-) Please try with the attached files. - Copy all six files into /lib/atheros - Start /lib/atheros/startWlanTest.sh This stops squeezeplay, disables the watchdog, unloads the regular wireless driver and re-loads it in test mode. It also prints some instructions on how to use the test. I only did some rudimentary test where my wireless would go down when I turned it on. I do not have a spectrum analyzer to confirm it's actually ok. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers Felix
Still some open issue to resolve. The FW doesn't do everything it needs to.
We need to be able to do the following for Baby: - one command to choose the channel from 1 to 13, - one command to select the maximum output power (it would be nice to have one intermediate output power for debugging purposes), - one command to enable or disable the 54Mbps modulation (they need to test with the maximum modulation and without any modulation), - one command to put the module in receiver mode to check for some spurious radiation.
I cannot target this bug as it is not in my hands anymore. Maybe the bug should be reassigned to whoever is in contact with Atheros about this right now. Or closed if all issues are resolved. The issues (if there are still any) are in an area where I cannot test or help as I do not have the proper tools to verify.
Mike is doing the formal testing now. The software seems to work.
