The Gradient behind the screensaver clock has 2 problems for bedside use.

1)  it significantly reduces contrast and makes the clock hard to read.  It makes the month and day nearly impossible to read, especially while standing above the device.

And 2) the gradient significantly increases the total light output, which lights up the room at night.

id like to see it without a background gradient if possible.
