Bugzilla – Bug 12693
Design interim screens during controller setup to help guide user through the process
Last modified: 2011-11-06 23:25:23 UTC
While performing the initial set up and later operation of the Duet system the Controller menu/functions expand as the process proceeds. These get confusing via the controller display. It would be nice if there were some sort of indication as what area of the setup you were in. Similar to how the receiver has its color code on the LED during the setup process there could be a shift in the background color as you switch from Controller setup to receiver setup and finally normal operation. Also while in these different functional areas for reconfiguring.
Not sure about color coding, but some sort of breadbrumb or other indicator is worth considering. We're tweaking the controller design right now, I'll keep this in mind as we head for 7.4.
We could first try a more simplified approach and create a "Welcome" screen 1.1 to let the user know that they are switching to setup the receiver portion(similar to "...by connecting you to your network"). We could also use the status bar area for breadcrumbs which has previously been discussed...
Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.
