Random tracks being deleted from database/UI when added to playlists.
Library is read from iTunes. I generated a playlist from a search.

are the tracks marked as disabled in itunes?

no they're not. 

If I stop v6.0 and start v5.4 (both are configured to use the same playlist dir)
the playlist is loaded, displayed and played correctly.

So I'm fairly sure it's not iTunes or the files!

James - this does look like the same bug.

Also - when you view the playlist, what program are you using?

We write out a UTF-8 BOM (Byte Order Mark), which is the gibberish you're seeing
at the beginning. Most editors should ignore it. Are you using notepad?
